Biomimicry produces solutions for daily life that mimic what goes on in Nature.
Janine Benyus has an amazing presentation about this which she gave at the TED convention in the US. We have a copy of this presentation on "The Science" section of our website.
In New Zealand, the worlds first natural plant activator has been developed that naturally stimulates plants immune systems into action - called Nature's Curator. It's completely non-toxic and the contents, when mixed with water and sprayed on plants, trigger an immediate reaction that enables the plants to defend themselves better against disease and pests. Gardner's using it are using less fertilizer and pesticide because of Nature's Curator and have more healthy, natural environmentally friendly gardens.
I have also heard of a scientist at Massey University who is developing more efficient solar panel's through the study of how plants generate energy through the using chlorophyll in their leaves.
Surely biomimicry is the next generation of technology development which will convince everyone of the need to study, understand and learn from nature in order to re-balance the world environment.
I challenge members to seek out new products being developed using Biomimicry to reduce the need for artificial products. Through this we can encourage the development of more products like Nature's Curator.
