Grove Mill's philosophy is to make super premium wines with minimal impact on the environment. In 2006 Grove Mill became the world's first carboNZeroCertTM certified winery and continue to receive this accreditation year after year. In 2010 the NZ Government awarded Grove Mill the Green Ribbon Award for 'Small Business Making a Difference' due their ongoing environmental sustainability practices.
Next to the winery Grove Mill have established a wetlands, acting as a refuge to native flora & fauna. Grove Mill's mascot, the Southern Bell Frog, is now thriving in the wetlands.
