
Every year, the Forest & Bird volunteers invest over 850,000 hours of their time into New Zealand conservation. They plant hundreds of thousands of native plants (on Forest & Bird and public land), they protect our wildlife from introduced pests, and their prepare submissions and speak up for nature at council and environment court hearings. With Forest & Bird’s conservation legacy, our hands-on work, our membership - when we speak for nature politicians, local government and industry listen. The about face on the proposal to mine conservation land is an example of the power or many voice's can have through Forest & Bird or for speaking up for nature. Forest & Bird is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that has been protecting and restoring New Zealand’s unique wildlife and the precious environments on land and in the sea since 1923.
