Environmental Choice New Zealand is our country’s own “Type 1” (ISO defined) ecolabel. It is operated for the people and government of New Zealand by the independent NZ Ecolabelling Trust.
In a sea of “green” claims, it is a trustworthy guide to products proven less harmful than others to our planet.
The planet-and-tick symbol can appear on products only when third-party assessments have objectively proven the manufacturers’ claims. Consumers don’t have to weigh up the environmental claims for products, because this ecolabel does it thoroughly and independently for them.
An international study for the UK government has named this New Zealand ecolabel in the world’s top three for the strength of its standards.
A manufacturer or marketer cannot buy the “stamp of approval”. You can log onto www.environmentalchoice.org.nz and see just what each product approval means, in easily understood terms, right down to many component details.
The Environmental Choice label gives buyers from government agencies to supermarket shoppers to the hardware store handyman an ever-expanding choice of environmentally preferable goods – proven, not just claimed.
