i'd choose Resene. Yes, they came up with NZ's first waterbased paint years back. What i like is that they keep innovating - in products, in return-programmes so you can return all that paint and plastic and reduce your personal footprint of oil and toxins. This year i stumbled across their EcoDecorator certification scheme - training decorators to understand sustainability and deliver a clear decent service. Helping clients know when they've got a good responsible decorator on the job. This is way beyond pretty colours. a properly rounded, responsible company i'd say.

I think this website Celsias deserves a mention as it is an informative website which shares with us lots of good information on acting responsibly towards our own country and the planet. Being online also means that it saves on trees for paper and it is always current and up to date and we can refer to it at anytime. I actually stumbled on this website last year when I had to research information on the Environmental footprint for my degree and was very impressed with this site and the way it is laid out. After reading what I needed to read for my assignment I signed up with Celsias and have been with them ever since. :-)

I have heard wonderful things about Greenworks' natural cleaners range. Their products are plant/mineral-based, biodegradable and come from renewable resources. Gets the tick from me ;0

Fresh Choice in Nelson is not like a normal supermarket. It focuses on organic fair trade products and has the best cheapest range I've ever seen anywhere.

How about Lanzatech? They have created a green fuel technology that is global in reach and is a serious contender for helping us transition our energy dependance as well as doing something to clean up the crappy air we breath in.

Downer NZ set itself ambitious targets: to reduce energy use by 5% and transport fuel use by 15%. Two years on, it's well exceeded these. Fuel use has reduced by more than 20%, while energy use in its asphalt plants - its highest energy-using operations - has dropped by an average 25%, with some sites as high as 80%.
