Tata Motors from India has shown off its all electric version of their Tata Nano at the 2010 Geneva Motor show. Have a look at this little beauty. The car will be built on the existing nano platform with an all electric drive train that promises a driving range of around 160 km on a single charge. 160km -far more than what the average New Zealander drives each day.

The car runs off super polymer lithium ion batteries which are said to be more powerful whiel being smaller. Sure the car is small, but  it still has four doors and seats four, at least in theory-although we suspect that's a squash.

Tata has yet to release  information on pricing but the new ev nano should come in somewhere slightly above the conventional 600cc nano which sells for just over 2,000 US dollars.

The tata nano was launched in 2008 and is primarily targeted at the Indian market. Is it too good to be true ? We think it's very cool , but wonder if it complies with our road standards. If so, there are lots of us here who want one !

Tata Nano has been designed with a family in mind, has a roomy passenger compartment with generous leg space and head room. It can comfortably seat four persons. Four doors with high seating position make ingress and egress easy.
