Here's an interesting new NZ product. It's a dog and cat dietary supplement made in New Zealand containing 100% sustainably fished hoki oil & manuka honey marketed by Newflands Limited is contained in a Rockstock Zip-lock Bag with a Rocktak Self-adhesive Label printed by CPS Printing Limited in Auckland on a low temperature Fuji Xerox 560.Apart from the obvious massive carbon footprint of the dog and the cat,which bear no environmental scrutiny at all, the rest all looks pretty good.
Both bag and label are freezer grade (-40°C+) being a criteria for product storage. This is a great example of a supplier making a huge effort to be sustainable and environmental in their ethic with both product and packaging.
Rocktak RPD self-adhesive is made from 81% stone powder + a non-toxic photodegradable resin.
The label is water proof, FDA food grade, tear resistant, moth and insect proof, greaseproof, and mist proof. The freezer grade water based acrylic food grade adhesive is also, RoHs certified. The zip-lock bag also made from Rockstock RPD rich mineral stone paper has the same properties with added certifications such as Environmental Choice, Cradle to Cradle Silver, ISO 14001, RoHs, REACH, FDA food grade.
The packaging is recyclable, photodegradable (1 year + in full sun’s UV), burnable (without toxic fumes), reusable, compostable (under certain conditions)and can be written on when wet.
The manufacture of Rockstock rich mineral paper uses no water, no trees, no acid base
or bleach, no optical brighteners(e.g. titanium dioxide), low energy, no solid or airborne waste, no CO2 release during manufacture
