The Documentary Edge Film Festival is currently on at the Rialto cinema in Auckland and a selection of the films screening may be of interest to the Celsias readership...
At the Edge of the World chronicles 46 international volunteers and their controversial Sea Shepherd campaign against Japanese whaling in 2006 (see trailer below). The film illustrates the resolve and determination of the volunteers and also provides some stunning images of Antarctica.
Also screening is the documentary Climate of Change, an American film narrated by Tilda Swinton. The movie focuses on the efforts of everyday people all over the world who are actively participating in the fight against global warming and is produced by the company responsible for Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'.
Lastly, there is the highly acclaimed The Yes Men Fix the World, which is described as a "screwball true story about a couple of gonzo political activists infiltrating big business and pulling off outrageous pranks that highlight how corporate greed is destroying the planet."
Catch the trailer below...
The festival also screens in Wellington later this month. If you would like more information about screening times and other great documentaries, visit the official website here.
