When a big company designs a new logo trumpeting its sustainability credentials you have to admire the courage, as this tends to instantly put it under the microscope – Beyond Petroleum anyone?
Thankfully, the new insignia being used by Japanese-based printer and imaging hardware firm Brother has something to back it up.
Brother International (NZ) is ISO9001:2008 and ISO14001:2004 Certified. And to coincide with the fancy livery the firm has launched a funky website www.brotherearth.com where you can find out all about the company’s other green initiatives. You can even click to vote for where you would like them to donate some of their cash to environmental projects.
The only chink in the Samurai’s armour I have spotted so far is that instead of the customary ‘think before you print’ message at the end emails, their people put “Please consider duplex printing to save paper”. That wouldn’t be a Brother duplex printer by any chance…?
PS. Those of you who are coming to believe a printer has only two functioning parts, an on/off switch and a blinking light to tell you it has jammed again, watch this, and feel better.
