In an attempt to raise awareness about climate change, American artist Spencer Tunick has invited hundreds of people to pose nude in a vineyard in the south of Burgundy, France.
Known for his large body landscapes, Tunick's artwork has continued to challenge the notion of human interaction with the environment for more than 15 years. In 2007 he organised for 600 volunteers to pose naked on the Aletsch glacier in Switzerland, the biggest in Europe, in an attempt to illustrate humankind’s tragic relationship with the climate.

Of his work, Tunick says;
“Whether it be vines, corn, wheat or rice, agriculture’s sustainability around the globe is being threatened by climate change. Mother Nature is losing to man’s aggressive grip on the Earth.
Sometimes we forget how connected the body is to the earth, as the world is turning into a concrete jungle. With my work, I hope to bring attention to the vulnerability of our existence and to our connections to the foods we consume, for pleasure and survival.”
The Burgundy instalment is being done in conjunction with the French branch of Greenpeace, who are currently calling on volunteers to participate in the artwork.
Greenpeace reported recently that French vineyards are feeling the negative effects of climate change, including an increase in hailstorms, summer heatwaves and the emergence of new diseases.
