Calling all Carbon Heroes, 11°

Ricoh hosts the inaugural ‘Carbon Heroes’ networking event.
About 50 organisations and businesses which share a focus on environmental sustainability took part in the first ‘Calling All Carbon Heroes’ networking event, which was hosted by Ricoh New Zealand in Auckland on 27 April .
Landcare Research’s carboNZeroCertTM programme organised the event for their carboNZero certified and CEMARSTM (Certified Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme) clients, from large corporates and councils, to a small landscape gardening firm.
Josephine Rudkin-Binks, from the carboNZero programme, said the idea behind the event was “to bring our clients along to network and foster business relationships, as well as having them share their sustainability experiences, ideas and successes”.
Attendees were treated to carboNZero certified wines from Yealands Estate Wines in Marlborough, and delicious carbon neutral organic risotto and soup from Pitango Innovative Cuisine, while HB Media provided guests with free copies carboNZero certified magazine - Idealog and Good Magazine.
Mike Pollok, Managing Director of Ricoh New Zealand, spoke about his own personal experiences with sustainability, as well as Ricoh’s journey in becoming carboNZero certified.
“It was brilliant to hear the buzz around the room, the ideas flowing, and have so many people with the same philosophy inspiring each other,” said Mike Pollok.
Ricoh’s National Dealer Network Manager, Mike Nugent, shared the story of the hard work put in by Ricoh dealerships to recently become carboNZero certified small enterprises – and spoke of the positive impacts on their businesses.
The inaugural evening was a huge success and the carboNZero programme plans to hold networking events at least three times a year in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in future.
