Boycott all of Fonterra's consumer brands until they halt the importation of palm kernel expeller (PKE).

As a New Zealander concerned by the impacts of pollution and climate change, I can no longer ignore the actions of Fonterra and the damage you are doing to the global environment and New Zealand's reputation.
I have begun a total boycott of all your consumer brands and will be encouraging all my family and friends to do the same. I am publishing my actions by blog and Twitter in the hope that other consumers both here and overseas will follow suit.
The increasingly industrial scale of dairy farming in New Zealand is simply not sustainable. Dairy herds of greater than 1000 cows are becoming commonplace and our rivers run green with effluent. Fonterra has successfully lobbied the government to see agriculture spared the full cost of their emissions which only encourages more large scale dairy conversions.
For me the current news about the importation of Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) for stock feed was the final straw. This cheap imported feed encourages the unsustainable stock levels of industrial dairy units while reducing the livelihood of New Zealand stock feed producers. By providing a profitable market for palm kernel you further encourage the wholesale destruction of tropical rain forest, cleared to make way for palm oil plantations. Endangered species such as the orangutan are being pushed to the brink of extinction by the resulting destruction of their habitat.
The 1.1 million tonnes of PKE imported by you in 2008 equates to a carbon footprint of 20,020,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. While you and your shareholders reap the profits, all New Zealanders will pay the cost.
I will continue my boycott of your brands until you cease the importation of PKE and demonstrate a commitment to cleaning up 'dirty dairying' by implementing sustainable farming practices.
